I first came across the RSS icon during my undergraduate years when social media was taking the world by storm, in a good way. Names like Hootsuite, Snapchat, and Facebook were cool things to associate with, which I experienced while working at the campus's Help Desk.
One particular thing that piqued my curiosity was RSS. I used to see it as an option to follow blogs or newsletters. However, the hectic schedule of academic life, and after graduation learning about the real world kept RSS an esoteric topic for me until now, as I work on the third version of my blog.
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) allows you to see the recent publications from sites you've subscribed to. You become the owner of the sources you want information from, instead of being fed by algorithms. Web applications such as Feedly allow you to subscribe to websites and receive notifications when new articles are published. That said, you can subscribe to my blog! Here is my RSS Feed!
